iMotion – is an airtouch and tactile feedback controller.
iMotion provides airtouch hand control user interface with a standard web camera that tracks 3D motion. iMotion ’s tactile feedback sensor can be used to provide haptic feedback whenever the user gets zapped by an enemy gun in a game, or when he hits a road block while in a racing game or control and 'feel' the surface of a 3D object in virtual space.
iMotion features:
In the main use case, iMotion is attached to hand using the Velcro straps. iMotion also allow you to attach it to any part of the body that you want to be 'motion-active'. After attaching the iMotion to your body, ensure that the front face (LED lights) is facing the camera and the lights of the LED are switched on and get set to start exploring the virtual interfaces Intellect Motion has to offer!
To use iMotion with a PC application of your choice, simply download our free driver (also included in the iMotion Toolkit) and make the application motion control active. iMotion emulates mouse and keyboard control on PC.
iMotion can be used to build three basic virtual interfaces: Virtual Touch Screen, Virtual Hands and Virtual Presence. Each interface has basic gestures supported, plus you can sutomize or create new gestures using iMotion Toolkit. You can also build your own unique airtouch and tactile interface using our SDK.
iMotion has a feedback sensor with an integrated Bluetooth module. This way, the application can send feedback to the iMotion controller. This means that whenever you get zapped by an enemy gun in a game, or when you get crash into a road block in a racing game or even when you 'virtually touch' the surface of a 3D object in the application, a physical pulse is sent by the motion feedback sensor in iMotion .
To make the Motion Feedback technology in iMotion even more interesting and unique, there are 4 different unique channels of motion feedback in each iMotion controller that will not only allow you to feel motion feedback but also sense directional motion feedback that can be integrated in many applications. (For example, a circular vibration pulse can be felt in the hand instead of a single channeled vibration buzz).
The iMotion is a slim sleek controller that is small enough to fit in your pocket and carry around. The iMotion is 6 cm. (2.3 in.) wide, 7 cm. (2.7 in.) long and 1 cm. (0.4 in.) sick. It is around the size of your palm and extremely light.
iMotion comes with Velcro straps and you can use these straps to attach the iMotion to any part of your body. Simply wind the strap around and secure it firmly with Velcro and don't forget to position the LED lights to face the PC camera.
No. With the Velcro straps of adjustable length, iMotion can be attached to almost anything: legs, arms, waist and even other handheld objects (yes, you can experiment).
iMotion emulates the PC mouse and some keyboard inputs so that all PC applications that use the mouse and simple keyboard inputs are supported - no integration required. Oh, don't forget to download our iMotion Toolkit for your PC.
Yes, iMotion is completely wireless and can be used within a range of 0.3 - 5.0 meters. (1 - 16 foot)
iMotion can be charged via USB connection.

Yes, you can. iMotion can work equally well tied to your palm, arm, knee, forehead or waist! For example, you can wear one on your waist to control your movements, and another on your palm to shoot in an FPS game. Or you can control movement with one iMotion and use the other to touch, feel things in an atmosphere game. The experience can be customized easily using our IM toolkit.
iMotion is the product of Intellect Motion the company behind the motion tracking technology. Find out more about Intellect Motion
Intellect Motion is a user interface technology development company. We develop motion controllers and feedback sensors. We specialize in finding new ways to interact with software.
With the iMotion Toolkit you can customize the control of existing PC, mobile and other hardware applications that are provided. You can control iMotion the way you want it - your mouse and keyboard are in your hands now. With iMotion Toolkit you can create your interface to control any PC application by selecting options in the dropdown button. You can create your own gesture or choose one from the library and map it with the PC application or game's hot keys.
iMotion Toolkit doesn’t require any programming skills. You can invent new movements by calibrating how the iMotion moves on your standard web camera. It is as easy as choosing from a dropdown box or entering a value into a sheet. Do it yourself and share you setting with your friends via iMotion Cloud.
iMotion SDK is provided for following platforms: Kinect, Oculus Rift, PC
All you need to do is join our developer’s program, then download our SDK and start developing your application for iMotion or integrating an existing application with iMotion . As a developer, you can join the iMotion Developers Program to create the truly Sci-Fi experience like never before. iMotion Developers Portal ( will be launhed Dec’13) will allow for developers to share their ideas and work together on applications for iMotion .
Users can participate 'physically' in virtual worlds by meeting people, 'touching' objects and controlling applications inside the 3D world. They can control a full 3D experience either in stand up mode (requires two iMotion s) or sit down mode (uses only one iMotion ) and has the fourth dimension as the motion feedback from the virtual world. Think of virtual meetings where you can 'give a hi-5' to your colleagues located across the seven seas or demonstrate a presentation using our motion control technology (control 'touch screen' in 3D world).
Imagine any 3D application that you have urged to create for years but didn't have the right technology to make it immersive and 'physically REAL' enough. That is now possible with iMotion .
iMotion can be used to create precise and sensitive control of Remote Presence Systems and Robots. You can navigate robots intuitively by moving your body and hand with iMotion attached. Your body would be responsible for movements of remote unit; your hand is responsible for camera view. You can even use your second hand with iMotion attached to provide additional control for back camera or manipulator installed on your RPS. Finally, you can feel the motion feedback pulse when your remote unit faces the obstacle or 'touches' the object.
Just imagine how much more fun it is to have three full 3D motion control devices that your user already knows how to use. Here are some examples of features that you can incorporate in your 3D game:
Our technology can recognize multiple light sources of different colors with just one camera; therefore several iMotion s can be used to create single screen multi-player games for the living room. You can convert your existing PC or mobile games and launch a party version of the game that can support up to 4 people in a living room. It can also be used for family experience. The game doesn't have to support simultaneous game play - it can be turn-by-turn. Also, the motion feedback signal can be sent by the game to a specific player - this is programmable.

Leapmotion is a great for interacting with your PC in a closed environment. However, iMotion has a wider range (0.3 to 5m), and for a big screen experience with great accuracy, it is inimitable. The setup is simple. Paired with just a standard camera (min specs 680x480, 30 fps), iMotion can run any app on your PC. Leap Motion also lacks the revolutionary 4-channel tactile feedback that iMotion provides.
iMotion is 10 times more faster and 6 times more accurate than the new Kinect. As it is a 'wearable' gadget, it lets you 'feel' the impact of a bullet or a fall with unique vibrations sensors. Also, it is much more flexible (can be used with any games on PC, and with a simple SDK integration), and affordable. Kinect also lacks the revolutionary 4-channel tactile feedback that iMotion provides. In fact, we believe that we are a complimentary product. Kinect with iMotion’s precision and virtual hands application can unlock infinite possibilities.
iMotion 's feedback technology is much more advanced than Wii. While for Wii, the feedback is a general vibration, iMotion uses 4 unique feedback channels to provide different feedbacks for different sensory experiences. iMotion works with a Standard Camera, unlike Wii. Also, it is much more flexible (can be used with any games on PC, and with a simple SDK integration), and affordable.
We have not tried out MYO yet, so we cannot comment on that. However, technologies used are very different. MYO responds to muscle contractions, while iMotion works on the principle of triangulation, technology that was used in many industries for many years. We are definitely more affordable than MYO, though.
We used Oculus Rift with iMotion , and it turned out quite well. We believe we are a complimentary product. Imagine being able to use the oculus rift headset free of any hand held controllers and game pads – iMotion lets you control your game, your way. You can walk, move, crouch, dodge, and jump as you were to in real life with iMotion on your body. We enable virtual hand control while controlling your 3D view with Oculus. What more, you can actually feel the sensation of getting hit in the game with iMotion’s tacticle feedback. All you need is a standard webcam and a game that works with the Oculus Rift headset.
You can use 4 iMotions at the same time. iMotion can work equally well tied to your palm, arm, knee, forehead or waist! For example, you can wear one on your waist to control your movements, and another on your palm to shoot in an FPS game. Or both on your hands and replicate virtual hands. Or you can control movement with one iMotion and use the other to touch, feel things in an atmosphere game. The experience can be customized easily using our IMware. Here’s giving you a better ideas.
Yes, we can. If you have any special requests, please write to us at and we will get back to you.
